As
a member of the Eighth District Dental Society,
you are eligible for a number of benefit programs
and discounted services. Through the Eighth District
Service Corporation, the Eighth District Dental
Society has leveraged the buying power of its
more than 1,000 members to provide you with services
and discounts which you would not be eligible
for otherwise. Check the Eighth

listing of endorsed services and vendors. In addition,
consider the benefits listed below which you enjoy
as a member of the Eighth District Dental Society.
Continuing Education
The Eighth District Dental Society is approved
by the American Dental Association as a provider
of Mandated Continuing Education. The District
offers timely seminars in the winter and fall
featuring prominent lecturers to assure that its
members are able to obtain their continuing education
credits and maintain their licenses. In addition,
the Eighth District collaborates with the UB Dental
Continuing Education Department and the UB Dental
Alumni Association to sponsor the Annual Lower
Lakes Meeting in May, a day-long seminar.
Peer Review
Consistent with its members' commitment to maintain
the highest standards in dental care, the Eighth
District Dental Society offers a Peer Review &
Quality Assurance program. This free service provides
an alternative dispute resolution between patients
and providers in issues of quality of care.
Publications
Each member is entitled to a free subscription
to the 8th District Bulletin, which is published
five times per year. In addition, the Eighth District
Dental Society publishes a Membership Directory,
providing detailed information regarding each
member.
Government Relations/Advocacy
The Eighth District Dental Society actively participates
in the New York State Dental Association Council
on Governmental Affairs in order to advocate for
its members on legislative and regulatory issues
impacting the practice of dentistry. Eighth District
representatives also serve as delegates to the
American Dental Association, and promote critical
issues through EDPAC, the State Dental lobbying
organization.
Public Relations
The Eighth District Dental Society plays an active
role in public health advocacy, promoting awareness
and good oral health practices through such public
relations opportunities as Children’s Dental
Health Month.
Individual Assistance/Personal Service
The staff of the Eighth District Dental Society
assists members take advantage of services provided
by the Eighth District itself as well as the services
of the New York State Dental Association and the
American Dental Association. Members of the Eighth District
Dental Society are able to obtain personal assistance in dealing with chemical dependency. In cases of financial hardship as a result of disaster or unexpected calamities, Relief Fund service can supplement other sources of assistance.
